Review: American Dad! “Stan Smith as Keanu Reeves as Stanny Utah in Point Breakers” (S13Ep5)
Spoilers Below
Tonight’s new American Dad! episode, “Stan Smith as Keanu Reeves as Stanny Utah in Point Breakers” started off kinda slow, but definitely has its moments. Heck, it definitely has what must be the longest episode title in the show’s history, and this one turned out to be exactly what I expected– partially a Point Break parody.
The episode started out with the whole family stressing Stan out with their usual hi-jinks (I swear they’ve done a story line like this before) but everything felt kinda disjointed until Bullock and the CIA gelled together the main story line of a sting operation they want to carry out on the local surfers.
After much ado and Stan fitting in with the surfers a little TOO much (realizing it helps his stress)– there are a couple hilarious Bullock sequences (The Swim) and some other good spots too. The rest of the family is relatively sparse in this story line, with the exception of a few occasional Roger lines, and then again, when everything ties together at the end.
Point Breakers was a surprisingly good episode, which will definitely get at least one re-watch from me. I was dubious at first of its merits, but overall, it grew on me throughout.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
