Review: Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks “I Will Survive; Alvin’s Got a Brand New Bag”

“I Will Survive;

Alvin’s busy preparing for a reality show when he suffers an injury. Simon volunteers to do the reality show after Derek starts talking shit to Alvin, and now we’ve got a match up. Alvin agrees to train Simon to build up some muscle so he can be strong enough to whip Derek at his own game. Even though Simon wants to quit the competition at first, after a while he decides to take on Derek with all of the apprehensive chipmunks watching. Simon ends up tying the whole competition right down to the race where Derek gets his foot trapped on a rock in a cheat leaving the finals for Simon. Next stop? Antarctica.

Our Take

This show stinks. How did we manage Chipmunks the size of small toddlers? Especially when you consider we have a rather popular movie franchise that features chipmunks the size of chipmunks.

Alvin’s Got a Brand New Bag”

Brittany gets a new bag and Alvin ruins it so he’s gotta get a replacement. The bag proves to be really expensive, but to prove that she’s serious, Brittany takes one of Alvin’s expensive shoes as ransom. The next day, Alvin goes to the store that did the giveaway for the bag and the owner of the store agrees to give him the final bag if he agrees to do a modeling gig. Alvin does the gig, gets the bag, and gets his shoe back.

Our Take

And this one’s a bit more mean-spirited. The first episode you root for Alvin, and now he’s kind of a dick. That said, it’s better when the chipmunks aren’t near humans because the disparity is a bit easier on the eyes, but not by much.
