Comics Review: Spongebob Comics #53
Spoilers Below
Shake-O-Rama
An earthquake splits “Bikini Bottom” in two which lets Spongebob and a lot of people go exclusively to the Chum Bucket while the Krusty Krab services a different half. Unfortunately, both sides grow restless and start talking about building a bridge, but when Plankton tries to destroy the construction site with Spongebob’s help, the rift left by the earthquake is healed and Bikini Bottom is back to normal.
Spongefunnies
Patrick’s a movie critic, but is unable to give a thumb score because he doesn’t have thumbs. That and he’s probably good to sleep through the movie.
Rocks-in-the-Head Collection
Patrick and Spongebob sport a much healthier pile of rocks than the competition.
Choice of Word
Pickle
Got a Match
Spongebob wants to wear matching clothes with Gary and does so successfully.
Sea Cucumbers
We learn the anatomy of a sea cucumber which is nothing like a real cucumber.
Our Take
Shake-O-Rama was an ok story, but I couldn’t help but think we could have gotten a bigger and better story had we not had so many strips this time around. Not that they were terrible, just that everything seemed pretty standard this month with nothing really sticking out as overtly tantalizing. In any case, we get something to hold us over until the new episode of Spongebob Squarepants premieres on Nick next Monday.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
