Review: Wander Over Yonder “The Secret Planet / The Bad Hatter”

The Secret Planet

Wander and Sylvia are looking for a planet to hide from Dominator whom has pretty much destroyed all of the other planets. Wander wants to invite a bunch of people, but Sylvia swears him to secrecy that he won’t tell anyone about their discovery. Of course, Wander tells a bunch of people about the planet because he wants to help others find refuge from Dominator, but Sylvia kind of expected this and planned a hideout that should suit everyone and keep them save from the grasps of evil.

Our Take

First thing’s first, I missed the hell out of this show. It’s been too damn long since we’ve had new episodes, but at least now we’ve got ’em. The first half of the episode was a bit more serious than the second in terms of repercussions as a result of an arc that’s been going down for a while, and the results are kinda spooky. Even Wander seems to be trying to deal with an awful problem the best he can, but make no mistake, 2016 could be a nuts year for Wander/Dominator.

The Bad Hatter

Lord Hater gets a hold of Wander’s hat and he opts to use it to give something that will finally win over Dominator’s affections. Eventually, Peepers finds out about the hat and wants to use it to win a war against Dominator, and therefore, causing the hat to flip out all over the ship. Wander’s been looking for his patented accessory so he shows up to get it back. The hat goes back to normal, but not before we find out that this hat has a potentially dark history.

Our Take

While the first half of the episode had potential ramifications for the future, this one banged away at the past, more specifically with Wander’s hat. Who knew that there was a back story sitting on top of Wander’s head this whole time? I sure didn’t. I hope the producers really delve deeper into the hat because I want to see the results of what Wander was talking about.
