Review: Bordertown – Megachurch
I want to like this show. I really, really do. You know where this is going.
This week’s episode features a hot topic of discussion. With the megachurch’s donation money dwindling, they use Bud’s influence on Ernesto to coax him into joining. Ernesto was scouted as being one to donate large sums of money to whatever church he is attending.
This show jumps around more than I would like. It seems like I’m watching an episode of cut-aways. I like the intentions of trying to shed some more light on corruption in megachurches, but it’s done in such a cartoony (not the good kind) fashion. It pains me to say that, because I agree with a majority of what the writers have to say.
There were a few good jokes when JC was thought to have been molested at a camp and that’s why he denounced religion. Come to find out he discovered a dinosaur bone and turned to science instead. He was then molested by a paleontologist and his “old bone”. The pope also came into the church and kicked out all the Mexicans. Next thing you know, he’s going to want to build a wall.
SCORE
One point for each time I laughed.
I want a beginning, middle, and end. This episode, specifically, was difficult to follow. I want a coherent dialogue between characters. Sometimes the accents can be a little too much. I want the jokes to have substance, not just all the easy quick jokes. I want to know who the hell the characters are. Without these things, it’s another stoner comedy that strictly focuses on pitting extreme left and extreme right values against each other.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
