BUBBLE CAN Review: Night Sweats “Monetization”

Chris and Bart are still on the hunt for money on this week’s Night Sweats. This time around they’re using the infamous “micro-transaction” technique. Want all of the content of this week’s episode? Pay a tiny insignificant $0.99.

Now, that isn’t really how the episode worked. But the world seems to be pushing in that direction, doesn’t it? Micro-transactions occur primarily in the world of video games. Consumers will shell out their hard earned cash to play a video game, only to find out that they need to pay extra to unlock all of the content of the game. Another microtransaction you may be familiar with is getting extra guacamole at Chipotle. Everybody’s doing it! So, it only makes sense that Chris and Bart cash in on the idea as well!

Along with that we had more episodes for Don’t Feed the Humans, World Doctors, Santa and Pals, and Goodwin vs Badwin.

Usually I’ll break down each animated short to give my thoughts on each, but this week was pretty simple and I’ll save you some time. They were all excellent. There were very minor issues to be found in all them. Santa and Pals is a new short in the show. It doesn’t bring anything new to the table. It’s a morally corrupt Santa. We’ve seen that plenty of times. But there are some great pop culture references and the characters are well realized. Goodwin vs. Badwin was sort of Badwin vs. Badwin this week. Goodwin wasn’t exactly that nice of a character either this week, but the situation of the cartoon was just awesome.

So it’s just things like that. There is one or two minor problems with each cartoon but the overall experience outweighs the cons.

Overall, this was a good episode. Nothing to write home about, but still an excellent half hour of television. Chris and Bart were awesome in this episode. Their style of comedy grows on me more and more each week. Definitely another “W” for Night Sweats!
