Review: Fugget About It “Vagina’s Got Talent”

 

Fugget About It follows the life of former mob boss, Jimmy Falcone. When Jimmy finds out that the mob wants to whack his Uncle Cheech, Jimmy whacks his boss and prosecutes against members of his mob. Now Jimmy Falcone lives by a new name, Jimmy MacDougal. He along with his family have been placed in witness protection. Their new home? Regina, Saskatchewan.

With the holiday season in full swing, you can usually expect your favorite TV shows to spread their own cheer with holiday specials. This week, Fugget About It was no different, but it was certainly a more toned down Christmas special. Besides a few references, you wouldn’t even be able to tell. After enduring so many specials, this was a welcomed change. When the holiday season begins by the time children are half-way through taking off their Halloween costumes, many are burnt out by Christmas by the time it rolls around. Last night felt like any other week, but there were a few obvious reminders just in acknowledgment of the season.

The episode as a whole was pretty good, with a few faults. Cookie enters Theresa into a talent show to compete with a rival parent, Gina disguises herself as a dummy so she can enter with Petey.

This episode was a neat change of pace for the show. Focusing on Cookie, Theresa, and their relationship. The men of the family were pushed to side roles and the women of the family took center strage, well, at least Theresa did. Having her as Cookie’s puppet for the talent show provided a platform to elevate her character, and this this came across well. She showed ambition, dedication, and passion. Characteristics we haven’t really seen from Theresa.

The only real negatives I had with the episode were the strange nosebleed gags along with Petey and Gina’s chemistry. The two characters have never worked well together, in my opinion. Usually opposing personalities mesh well, but this particular relationship has never interested me. Gina herself was awesome in this episode.

Overall, this was a good episode. Plenty of funny jokes, engaging story, different perspectives on the characters we thought we knew.
