Comics Review: Rick and Morty #9
This month, we see Rick and Morty settle into a world where Summer is leading a resistance against a Morty-ran dictatorship all the while Beth sends in Jerry on a suicide mission to bring back Rick. Unfortunately, Jerry kills Morty and we have to wait until next month to see if he’s able to be brought back.
In the next strip entitled “Into the Void”, Morty ponders what death is like and as luck would have it, Rick has a box that can show you just that. Instead of spoilers, Morty opts to just continue watching Alf marathons with his grandpa.
Our Take
Unfortunately, this month’s issue is a tale of two character designers. For some reason, the Rick and Morty drawings in the first strip are far worse than the second one. Rick looks like a rejected anime metrosexual and Jerry looks like he gained a whole bunch of weight. In the second strip, the characters look better, but the story isn’t as interesting. Maybe the stencilers can switch places next month, yea?
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
