REVIEW: We Bare Bears “Tote Life”

The bears head to the market which is highly reminiscent of every Whole’s Food that I’ve ever been in, and are accosted by the cashier due to the fact that they don’t use reusable tote bags. Instead of causing a scene, the bears buy a couple of bags, forget their groceries, and carry on their merry way. It isn’t long before the rest of the neighborhood notices the tote bags and starts treating the bears a little differently, but perhaps more can be done. A few weeks later, a rep from the EPA shows up to the Bears household and learns in horror that the guys have been hoarding tote bags in an attempt to save the environment and help beavers build their dams. Fortunately, the rep is able to talk some sense into the bears before any major damage ensues, and the bears decide to reuse the tote bags as material for the aforementioned dams.

Our Take

If you have been impressed with South Park’s allegations that every town becomes more douchey whenever a Whole’s Foods is built, then this week’s episode is right up your alley. Paper and plastic bags are biodegradable, but patrons nowadays like to bring tote bags. Now, if you’re anything like me, you buy too much food and you end up overflowing these bags anyway. But, it’s OK! As long as the environment is safe, I don’t need to worry about my now-crushed eggs.

We Bare Bears takes this way of thinking head on. People can get way too obsessed with environmental crap, and as a result, lose sense of reality. And while I thought Grizzly and Panda were super funny this episode, especially when the two go nuts, Ice Bear needs to grow on me a little bit. I was a big fan of Demetri Martin at one point, but I think he needs to have SOME life to his role as Ice, otherwise he’s going to get out-Gabbed by the other two every episode and it’s not even going to be close.
