Review: SuperMansion “Brad Medicine”
Spoilers Below
For years, Brad has needed steroids to be on top of his game. Unfortunately, the producers of his experiment have an upgrade and his name is Chad which means they no longer need to send roids over to Brad. Brad is now deflated, and as such he decides to form a new team separate from the group so that he can stop crime and prove to Rex that he doesn’t even need the steroids. Together with Cooch, Groaner, and Black Saturn, the trio are able to break into the lab and find some more of the shit that Brad needs to get big.
Meanwhile, Rex organizes game night at the house, and from the looks of it he’s the only one excited. Eventually, everyone leaves leaving only behind holographic images of themselves. Rex decides to call the games on the account of some secrets being revealed, instead opting for a movie night. But with half of the team still gone for the night, Chad heads on over to kill Brad. When he gets there, Chad is met with a rather vicious ass-kicking from a now huge Brad. Chad gets killed, and everyone goes back to what they were doing.
Our Take
Black Saturn is the best character in this whole fucking show, and only Jewbot and his one-liners are even close. BS is maybe the best rip-off of Batman ever since maybe Moon Knight. His constant bickering with Groaner was really good this week.
And while I’m a big fan of Brad, I kinda thought the plot was rather formulaic. “Send someone to go get something and get it back, and then they’re the hero” kind of a lead just seemed too normal to be a straight up parody of anything. The Matrix-like scene featuring Brad going through the lasers was very well done, but with this week’s episode your best bet is looking for the one-liners, and for the most part there is a lot here. Jewbot probably wins in this category for the week, but not by a lot. Black Saturn and the constantly masturbating (and very Quagmire-inspired) bit featuring American Ranger discovering internet porn provided some good laughs, but everytime Cooch says something I want to put a spoon in my ear.
In terms of guest stars, I didn’t think Jon Bernthal did anything all that memorable, but Donald Faison was, and usually is, pretty hilarious. Constant gagging is great medicine to off-set any familiarities with the various plots, and it works here.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
