Review: South Park “Sponsored Content”

Is Jimmy retarded?
With that being said, PC Principal finds himself in a metaphoric chokehold during “Sponsored Content.” Offended by the use of “retard” in an article in the school newspaper, he flies off the handle only to find that Jimmy was the one who wrote it. After bringing him to his office, it is definitively clear just how awkward PC Principal gets around handicapped people. Instead of being able to talk to him like a human and not being afraid to offend him, he enlists the help of a handicapped kid, Nathan, whom eerily warns, “A war is coming.”
After PC Principal refuses to allow Jimmy to distribute the school paper in the school, he bears the weight of delivering it door to door to all of the school’s students and faculty himself. After tossing a rolled up newspaper at PC Principal, Jimmy exclaims, “S-s-s-suck my dick, PC Principal.” The war has begun.
As Butters’ parents are in bed, they use a normal technique used when trying to fall asleep; reading. Stephen turns to Linda with the school newspaper, amazed at how easy it is to read something without ads in it. There are no links to click on, no celebrity gossip shoved in your face, no spiraling void of eternity bringing you to Fauxkley’s that are 99% off, no schism engulfed in manmade flames. It was just pure content (much of what I bring you here :-D).
Bring on a shot at the presidential debates. After a question regarding Syrian refugees, Hillary Clinton starts to answer. After she prefaces her about-to-be load of donkey dung response, Mr. Garrison and his running mate, Caitlyn Jenner, repeatedly interrupt her by attacking her physical appearance and not her ideas. Obviously, a more-than-noticeable head nod to Trump. Backstage, we find out Principal Victoria is alive and well, but she was never fired; she was replaced.
So what does PC stand for? According to Jimmy, it stands for Pussy Crushing. Jimmy exposes the PC house as people who extort handicapped kids in lieu of getting to Pound Town. BUT, make sure you have the proper consent forms filled out before engaging in these activities or you will be looked down upon. Seeing how much traction the school newspaper has gained, Geico comes in and offers Jimmy $26 million to place some ads in it. Maybe, the Suit infers, even use some methods that can be deemed unethical by some. For example, writing a story about Geico just to get people thinking about switching over their insurance. This is called “sponsored content”, hence the episode title.
Officer Barbrady pulls a Terminator and saves Jimmy from the Geico spokesman. He then brings Jimmy to a secret facility that tests whether or not he can tell the difference between ads and news. The final test is a little girl who is “special”. I won’t spoil everything for you, because I feel like everyone should watch this episode, especially for the last 10 seconds.

This season of South Park is hands-down the BEST season I have ever seen and I look forward to seeing where this storyline takes us. “Sponsored Content” gets a 10/10 and as many thumbs from me as I can give.
