Review: Sanjay and Craig “Guitar Zeroes”

Spoilers Below

Sanjay and Craig are super good at playing a Guitar Hero-esque game at the Frycade that when the offer to open up for “Tuff Skulls” comes along Craig jumps all over it. Problem is, the duo has no idea how to play real guitar, so they go down to the stores and get real guitars and find out that Chuck used to be a legendary rocker known as KOR (Keep on Rockin’). Unfortunately, Chuck doesn’t want to play anymore for fear of the Beast (aka his fans), so instead of teaching the boys, he hides inside of a fake PA (industry note, whenever you see a venue with STACKS of Marshalls, more often than not they are fake) to play for them while on stage. Eventually, Chuck does make it out on stage, but has a mental breakdown and takes off running down the street in fear of his fans. Sanjay and Craig go back to playing guitar games.

Our Take

As a guy who has been to over a 1,000 metal shows in his life, the producers of Sanjay and Craig got a LOT right. If you are on stage and NOT playing your instruments…we know. That said, there isn’t a metal fan in America that would chase their favorite players down the street, no chance. Maybe in Japan, but that’s stretching it.

Anytime we get episodes concerning guitars and rock shows, and keeping rock alive…I’m all for it. Kids nowadays need to learn that music is played, not developed on a computer program and I’m glad Sanjay and Craig (similar to South Park) is able to exhibit the importance of the instrument of which music is built on.
