Review: Mike Tyson Mysteries “What’s That Gnoise?”

Spoilers Below

The show opens with our fabled Mystery crew in spots that we should probably expect them, Pigeon in the oven, Mike Tyson crying over a bloody kitchen floor, and both Yung and Marquesse tied up. Fortunately, there were legit explanations for all of them, but the crew DOES get a mystery.

Turns out, some lady living in the suburbs has a loud screaming noise coming from inside her car, and despite the fact that she has four kids, has no explanation. The guys despite the split up with Marquesse, Pigeon, and Yung taking the kids somewhere else while Mike and the lady head to a mechanic. However, instead of getting a quote, Mike tears up the car and finds a tied up gnome hiding in the dashboard. We learn that the gnome hid in the car getting away from the lady’s car, and yea he gets freed, but the dog eats the gnome.

Our Take

Yep…this show has improved in every way since season one. For whatever reason the show looks crisper, and the jokes seem to be paced better than last season, too. You may remember that last season I constantly complained about lack of a musical score, but if this episode is any indication, the dialogue may be so quick that I may not have that complaint again.

Pigeon is still just as depressing as always, but his machine-gun like jokes against this poor family bad me in literal tears, and quite honestly, I can’t imagine ANYONE voicing this role other than Norm MacDonald. Norm’s Canadian comedic draw sneaks up on you like a scorpion and hits you right on the nose. Mike Tyson continues to embrace his role, and not only are his jokes excellent, but hes added a number of different attributes to his character such as somber tones. Marquesse and Yung were essentially cameos tonight, really not even being a factor in the episode until the end and that’s the way I like it.
