Review: Kirby Buckets “Balloonacy!”
Spoilers Below
Eli ends up being the better artist than Kirby according to the art teacher, so Kirby investigates. He eventually finds out that the teacher, Mr. Gibson, is a clown that is trying to recruit to ensure the survival of clown town and clowns everywhere. As Mr. Gibson brings his little ‘new hire’ in time for his initiation, Fish and Kirby are able to locate their pal and change him back before any real harm is done.
Dawn wants a raise in allowance from her parents so that she can start paying for meals for her new boyfriend DeMarco. At first, Mom and Dad don’t even believe that Dawn has a boyfriend and asks to meet him, but when the dude shows up by himself, the parents don’t fall for it and actually think the dude is just Dawn dressed like a guy. We soon find out that this isn’t the case and that Dawn really did have a boyfriend and her parents may have ruined it.
Fish is involved in a Storage Wars-like scenario involving him and the other kids bidding on lockers of kids that are no longer in the school. At first Fish is pretty serious, but gets some competition that’s trying to make him look bad. As time goes on, Fish gets a bit more confident about his bidding and shows who’s boss.
Our Take
After a rough patch, Kirby Buckets finds its groove again this week giving us three rather hilarious story lines. Kirby’s return to Clown Town via the show’s main premise of his aspirations for being an artist was super smart, and Mr. Gibson’ “Sweet Tooth” getup was an interesting choice, but his personality attributes were perfect for the role. Fish’s deal was a bit more typical, but it was actually a really well-done bit. Anyone who watches Storage Wars will appreciate the adaptation for a younger audience and will wish they had this same thing in their schools. Last, but not least, Dawn and Kirby get extra kudos for their cross-dressing acts, which is the least I could do because Jacob looked like he was having TOO much fun wearing a dress.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
