Review: Fugget About It “What the F#@k Is the Grey Cup”

Nothing really says Thanksgiving like football, I mean, there is the parade, the dinner, and spending time with the family, but football is certainly in the top ten things you think of when thinking about Thanksgiving! Up here in Canada, our Thanksgiving was last month, but I know you guys below the boarder just celebrated a few days ago. I hope you all had an excellent time. So, speaking of football! It was the theme of last night’s Fugget About It! Arguably the most popular sport in the United States, definitely the second most popular in Canada. Was this pig skin episode any good? Read on to find out!

In “What the F#@k Is the Grey Cup” Jimmy and Cheech become CFL fans and invite the Saskatchewan Rough Riders to a barbecue on the eve of the Grey Cup, but the entire team gets food poisoning.

This was a pretty good episode. If you’re a fan of Canadian football, or maybe football in general, this would be a very fun episode for you. There were plenty of fun jabs at Canadian football. That stereotypical view that you would expect an American football fan to have of Canadian football is very prevalent in this episode. But it’s all in the name of poking fun at each other. So, the Rough Riders go over for some BBQ and get food poisoning from Cheech’s special chili. Food poisoning may be putting it lightly, because it was complete Armageddon. Hands down the best part of the episode.

So, by the rules of being a TV show, Jimmy and Cheech now have to lead the Rough Riders to a Grey Cup victory. The pacing of the episode was great, nothing dragged on for too long. The writing for the main story was very tight, though the story was pretty predictable. But as I mentioned the writing was tight, and in comedy all sins are forgiven if the comedy is good, and it was for the most part.

Cookie’s story in this episode didn’t add very much. The comedy wasn’t as good, the story wasn’t as engaging as the main. There was something missing and it kind of dragged the episode down as a whole for me.
Overall, still a pretty good episode. It was a fun watch and there were a lot of laughs to be had. As I mentioned, this will be a good episode for football fans. Cheech was probably the shining star of this episode, he was the perfect compliment to the episode and his antics were the driving force of the story. I didn’t feel like there was too much spotlight on him either rather we got a very good balance.
