Shorts Review: Descendants: Wicked World – “Audrey’s New Do? New Don’t!”

Audrey is in her room trying to find a fresh new look. When Jane points out that her stuff is nice, Audrey throws a bit of a fit. The whiny girl complains that the “bad” kids are getting all of the attention. Suddenly, she decides that she needs new hair. After all, Jane became less…plain after Mal changed her hair. But Jane doesn’t have magic, right? Audrey points out that Jane is the Fairy Godmother’s daughter. The Fairy Godmother and Maleficent are the two most powerful magic users in the land. If Mal has magic, so much Jane. Jane tries to recreate the spell that Mal placed on her, except she replaced “cool hair” with “something really out there.” As a result, Audrey gets a rather bad hairdo. Since Jane doesn’t tell her that it is awful, Audrey insists that she take a picture and post it. Needless to say, everyone else thinks it’s a don’t.

Of the three episodes so far, this is my favorite. Not because it doesn’t feature Mal or Evie. No, I like it because it has a bit more interaction between the characters. This feels more like a stolen scene from the movie instead of a random conversation between two characters that happen to be in the same space. Even though the episode is still only two minutes long, it feels so much longer. I think that feeling is what makes it more enjoyable to watch.
