Review: Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man: Web-Warriors “Contest of Champions: Part Four”

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN

Spoilers Below

The Grandmaster has won the contest of champions, but Spider-Man’s not giving up without a fight. Spidey convinces The Collector to fight back, so a rematch is made in a winner-takes-all contest. The game? A battle royale. Small at first, one that is used to build up The Collector’s confidence long enough for Spidey to free heroes from captivity. The Grandmaster gets pissed, so Spidey challenges double or nothing with The Grandmaster as a game piece  versus Spidey, The Collector, and  heroes. The heroes get wiped leaving just The Grandmaster versus Spidey and The Collector. Spidey grabs The Grandmaster’s staff which helps The Collector gain the upper hand and the victory. Spider-Man and Aunt May go and grab dinner.

Our Take

You know what’s great about this finale? Really, no sign of the Web Warriors with the exception of Agent Venom and he’s always been a big ol’ puss in this series. You know who else sucks? The Collector. Talk about a whiny motherfucker that cries about trying to beat his brother. The Collector I know is a savant that is usually beaming with confidence. This show? He’s a toddler.

Overall, this episode kind of sucked. There was a fight, then something happened , then another fight. The thing that blows me away is just how easy some of these heroes get beat in the four-part series. The Hulk is swatted like a fly, Captain America is useless, for some reason we keep calling on Hawkeye to help defeat a God, and Agent Venom still sucks. It’s too bad. This series could have been something, but instead, it’s held back by it’s awful character designs, stupid plots, and premises that just don’t make sense. I hope Sinister Six is better than this, but considering Doc Ock is already a lost cause, I’m not exactly holding my breath.

Maybe the producers can take up reading comic books, because at this juncture, they don’t.
