Review: Harvey Beaks “Le Corn Maze…OF DOOM!; Harvey Isn’t Scary”

Spoilers Below

Le Corn Maze…OF DOOM!

Halloween of last year saw the local squirrels try and scare the shit out of the kids with a lame maze of corn. It didn’t work, so a year later the squirrels up their game and ends up pretty much trapping all of the kids. Foo, Fee, and Harvey dig a hole when they get lost and end up finding the command center. After destroying the maze, all of the kids escape to safety.

Our Take

First thing’s first, I wasn’t all that crazy about the Halloween remix of the intro song. Second, I friggin’ loved the squirrels. I’m unsure why they had to be French, but I liked them and their Jigsaw-tendencies just the same.

7/10

Harvey Isn’t Scary”

The kids tell scary stories around a campfire, but the stories that Harvey tells aren’t that scary. As a result, Harvey decides to make his scary stories more personal so much so that he scares the shit out of everyone. Feeling terrible about the situation, Harvey sweetens up the endings to his stories a bit and now everyone can sleep tonight.

Our Take

To be honest, I preferred Harvey’s stories from the get-go. We didn’t need to make them scarier, but I thought the effects on the monster were rather excellent and terrifying at the same time. Harvey’s a sweet kid, and this episode continues to showcase his uneasiness about hurting feelings and is affable way of making everyone feel better. Dibs to the producers and the network for giving us SOMETHING new on Nick Friday Nights.
