Review: Harvey Beaks “Buds Before Studs”

Claire has a crush on Foo, but when Princess finds out she takes Foo for herself. As a result, Fee and Claire have to team up so as to break the two up. Unfortunately, when Claire comes clean about her feelings about Foo to Fee, Fee flips out and opts to get her brother back on her own. Claire doesn’t give up, instead she creates a diversion that gets Princess’ attention long enough for her and Fee to come to terms. Fee gives Claire her blessing to ask out Foo, but Foo might not be ready for a girlfriend just yet.

Our Take

This may be one of the first episodes I can remember where we get one that has no real sign of Harvey Beaks anywhere. Fortunately, the characters are so strong for this show, it was actually a refreshing change of pace to try something new. I never really knew how sweet Claire was nor how ‘Nelson-like’ Princess is, but because of this week’s episode now I do. I loved the anime-inspired bits that showcase the studios’ various talents, and with that comes the conclusion that this show can do just fine with out its titular character.
