Shorts Review: Vixen Episode 2
Spoilers Below
We know of its powers, but what of its origins? We find out that this mystery has been following Mari McCabe since she was a little girl raised by foster parents. The totem she wears is a source of this power, and as such, given her strength…both literally and figuratively. As an adult, Mari goes to the local college professor to figure out what it is, and while he’s able to shed a little light, we find out that Mr. McCallister isn’t working only for the school.
Our Take
I love the continuance of the origin stories, with this episode being a learning tool to not only show us the powers of Mari’s totem but understand it. In terms of art direction, while Detroit became less of a focus this time around, I couldn’t help but marvel at the shadowing techniques deployed in the background design. How the show’s producers managed to maintain perfectly looking silhouettes of Mari’s animal powers in a setting that isn’t exactly easy on the eyes, is a thing of pure genius.

Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
