Comics Review: Regular Show #27

JUL151142

Spoilers Below

Two book publishers show up at the park looking for Starla and Muscle Man and spend all issue arguing over who is going to secure the rights to distribute the hit teen romance novel. One publisher is a vampire and wants to publish physical books, the other is an e-book publisher and is also a werewolf. Finally we have a third publisher, also a vampire, that decides to do business with Mordecai and Rigby’s knock off book. Also, this third publisher is at the center of a love triangle between the werewolf and the vampire, but we have to wait until next issue to see who she chooses.

WASPS

Mordecai and Rigby tried to get into a movie when they were kids, but couldn’t get in. They upset a wasp’s nest that attacked Benson. Some things never change.

Our Take

I don’t quite under stand the premise of the main Regular Show plot because I really know nothing about the teen romance books that have swept the nation. In any event, the business meetings rang true for me because I’ve been in a bunch of those, and the fact that Rigby is trying to make a buck with a rip off is hysterical. I wasn’t crazy about Wasps, but I think there’s enough here to justify a purchase.
