Review: Wander Over Yonder ”The Greater Hater”

Hater has wasted too much time in chasing Wander and not enough time being a villain. Other villains are taking the territories that Hater should be getting, and Peepers is sick of it. Unfortunately for them, Lord Dominator shows up and she’s not fucking around. Right away we learn that Dominator’s minions are way too strong for Sylvia to handle unlike the Watchdogs. Wander decides to go a different route and deliver a fruit basket to the new visitor, but both he and Sylvia get captured.

Wander and Sylvia get caught and thrown in jail, but Hater helps them escape. Too bad the duo doesn’t make it and instead Dominator grabs them both and brings them into her control room. Eventually, everyone causes enough shit to go down to cause some sort of meltdown that allows the group to escape the clutches of the evil…wait a minute. Dominator’s kind of a happy thing…

Our Take

Wander Over Yonder returns with a villain that was terrifying for about 27 minutes, only to be cute and adorable at the end. As a matter of fact, Peepers could also be a threat, look out for him. The Commander was talking a lot of smack to Hater and then cut a promo on Dominator without even batting his eyelash.

In any case, we learned just how strong Dominator really is. Sylvia, despite her strength, had trouble breaking through a lot of the confinements that this ship had to offer. Heck, even when Hater was trying to put up a fight a couple of times, he was more or less smacked away. The only one that didn’t put up a fight, Wander, ended up being the strongest as you could totally tell he was driving Dominator up a wall while she was trying to maintain control of the ship.

We didn’t really dive into the mythos of our new arch-villain, though I’m sure we’ll be able to piece SOMETHING together. What we did get is the return of a franchise that helped establish a new frightening presence, and showcase what kind of strength we are dealing with here, leaving us with the question…who do we root for?
