The Big Day

At first he wasn’t going to even bother, but when Lord Hater comes across Wander and Sylvia he captures them both with promises that he’s going to destroy the both of them. Fortunately for him, Wander is on board and he wants to make sure Hater remembers this special moment. As a result, Wander starts consulting Hater in a number of different areas i.e. how to dress, type of execution, basically the whole nine yards. After a while, Hater gets annoyed and tries to destroy Wander, but he and his pony are already long gone.

Our Take

So, while we really don’t get a lot of progression in terms of the new villain introduced in the season two premiere, new fans were introduced to my favorite thing about the show…it’s Looney Tunes sensibilities. Wander exhibits all of the personality traits of Bugs Bunny, but maybe has a better villain to showcase them with. And while I was a bit surprised that Sylvia went as quietly as she did, you’d be hard-pressed NOT to enjoy yourself while watching Wander Over Yonder.

The Breakfast

Who doesn’t love breakfast? Problem is, Hater is a picky eater. But, when the planet destroyer himself tries to cook up better alternatives than what he’s getting, Hater fails miserably causing Wander to come over and make him breakfast.

That said, it’s not like Wander had the easiest time making his breakfast, neither. However, he does make sure that his friends are covered, even if it means he has to go hungry for them. Fortunately for him, Hater returns the breakfast-serving favor.

Our Take

So many things to love about this week’s episode. The silhouette background designs, the top-down camera views on Hater (seriously, you don’t see that anywhere else), and of course the split-screen that probably failed in the timing department everywhere else in terms of choreography, but seemed to work super-well here.
