Review: Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors ”Inhumanity”

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN

Spoilers Below

Triton shows up via the Inhumans to team up with Spider-Man in defeating one of 50 rogue villains part of the Marvel Universe that has some sort of incendiary super abilities aka Molten Man.

Queen Medusa shows up with Triton’s planet and threatens war on Earth, so naturally Nick Fury wants to take her up on the offer. Spidey wants to try more unilateral methods, so he heads to the city with Triton to try and talk things out. We find out that Maximus is here, and while Triton runs away like a small girl, Black Bolt’s Uncle starts a fight.

Triton and Spidey are able to escape without any harm, and after a rousing battle with Karnak and Lockjaw, the two end up finding a held hostage Black Bolt. Worse yet, we eventually see the rest of Triton’s people taken under Maximus’ control with the threat to destroy NYC.

Triton challenges Maximus to a tag match with Spidey joining Triton and Maximus taking Gorgon. The two teams battle it out, and we learn that Maximus’ head-band is controlling the rest of the Inhumans. Spidey and Triton grab it, then Spidey teams up with Black Bolt to stop a collision of epic proportions.

Our Take

I bet you learned 50% more about the Inhumans as have I. Personally, I never cared for them in the comics because all of the characters seemed rather unoriginal save for maybe Black Bolt. That said, Ultimate Spider-Man managed to make a fun episode out of the situation all the while education the masses about the main character roster that is the Inhumans.

Spider-Man had a lot of funny lines in this week’s episode like when he’s complaining about being in the sewers or when he’s teasing Lockjaw, but I would’ve liked to have seen a bunch of the other Inhumans characters get into some sort of battle, but really we just saw Black Bolt in action. In any case, this was one of the more enjoyable episodes of Ultimate Spider-Man this season. I could go into asking some questions surrounding why Nova sounds like some punk kid, perhaps some other time.
