Turner Nets bulking up TBS TV and Digital teams

Ex-FOX chief Kevin Reilly continues to bulk up TBS’ original development team. That’s because Kevin made a bunch of organizational moves today for TBS.

Thom Hinkle has been promoted to SVP Original Programming for TBS. Thom has a great background that includes his first job at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and according to THR he will be taking on a role that will have him not only be responsible for original scripted comedy but also be the primary liaison between TBS and the studios that produce its scripted originals.

Kevin Reilly mentioned at Upfronts that animation could be a key focus for TBS by the end of this year, so it sounds like Thom will be overseeing any cartoon pickups the network has for the foreseeable future. Hey, Thom…want an idea for your first animated pick up? Look here.

The other move made is that of Robin Pelleck becoming the VP of digital content for TBS and TNT original programming. Again, according to the article, she will be working directly with the two network’s current series productions to develop custom content and digital extensions, and serve as the primary contact between the network’s series productions and TNT and TBS’s advertising sales, marketing and social media teams to create digital content for the nets’ linear series.

It will be interesting to see what the latter hire will do for TBS’ animated properties, and if Robin will put together some of the campaigns that sister network Adult Swim already does to perfection. Moreover, I’d love to see her work with cartoon studios in some of the same capacity that Comedy Central works with Shadowmachine and how FOX/FXX works with ADHD Studios.
