Review: Kirby Buckets ”All Hands on Dexter”
Spoilers Below
Kirby and Fish enter a contest to see who can keep his or her hands on a video game the longest which doesn’t make any sense, but the competition is on TV so, what the hell? It isn’t long before they are joined by Craig whom apparently is some sort of legend, so much so that he knocks someone out of the competition in like five seconds.
Meanwhile, Mr. Buckets wants to cash in his “Chore Day” coupon from five years ago. Kirby isn’t around to help, so he sends Eli in as a substitute, but Dawn is still stuck at home doing chores, so she decides to get a stand-in of her own…Belinda.
Dawn shows up to the Zaniest Challenge so people can hear her singing voice, but Craig is KNOCKING people out of this thing left and right until he makes his way down to Kirby and Fish. To try and get them to leave, Craig starts talking a lot of shit to each of the contestants which causes a rift on ‘Team Firby’. It gets worse, Dawn joins forces with Craig to try and kick Kirby out which is smart because Fish is almost half asleep anyway.
Kirby eventually discovers Craig’s secret to success…he’s a twin. So in an effort to save his friendship with Fish and expose a fraud, Kirby exits the competition and shows Craig’s true colors in front of everyone. Fish wins the contest, and he decides to keep the game at the store.
Kirby and Dawn head home and yes Dawn gets some traction on being featured on a reality series, but probably not the one she wants. Once home, we find Belinda and Eli arguing in Finnish over the fact that they busted up a previously assembled book shelf with a somber Mr. Buckets trying to enjoy his free ‘Chore Day’.
Our Take
Samm Levine (Craig) should be on this show a 100 more times because he’s one of the few actors that I have seen on Kirby Buckets that can stand toe-to-toe with Jacob Bertrand in terms of comedic chops. Everything he did was so damn funny, I couldn’t shake it and it even made me forget that I was watching yet another Kirby episode that featured a contest plot. I couldn’t help but be dissuaded by a rather large plot hole because as funny as I thought all of the contestant confessionals were for the local news team, I couldn’t quite understand how the contestants were able to constantly walk away from the arcade machine if the entire premise of the contest is to stay put.
In any case, the rest of the cast was very entertaining. Dawn teaming up with Craig was good, but Belinda and Eli’s arguments in Finnish were hysterical, even if the closed captioning part seemed to go rather sporadic after a while. Mr. Buckets always makes for good times, too so it was good to see him back in a rare appearance.
Overall, a solid episode of Kirby Buckets. Samm Levine (Craig) played a fantastic villain character without giving up the comedy chops and the rest of the show was just as humorous.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
