Batman: The Killing Joke to be an animated film next year from DC Comics

At yesterday’s Justice League: Gods and Monsters panel, Bruce Timm dropped a HUGE announcement. Batman: The Killing Joke is going to be adapted into an animated film set to release sometime in 2016.

That’s right…The Killing Joke. Holy shit. One of the most iconic pieces of DC print history is getting an animated adaptation and I can’t wait. The Alan Moore-written graphic novel had some pivotal moments in DC Comics history, including Barbara Gordon getting paralyzed by The Joker, which would have ripples in subsequent Batman releases. Alan Moore himself wasn’t a big fan of his own work, but Alan doesn’t like anything, so that just means it’s really good.

We don’t have a release date on the animated adaptation, but we do have Justice League: Gods and Monsters coming to Blu-Ray and DVD at the end of the month, which you can see a trailer for here.
