Review: Golan the Insatiable ”Shame on Pee”
Spoilers Below
Dylan’s wetting the bed…or is she? Golan finds out about it and agrees to not tell anyone so long as they both agree that Keith is the third member of their cult in exchange for a birthday party invitation. Eventually, we find out that it’s actually Golan wetting the bed, so when Dylan finds out she threatens to rat unless if her school crush Swingly is invited.
Golan’s gearing up for a helluva party, but when Dylan and Swingly start chiding him about the fact that he wets the bed, a Shamunculous escapes from Golan’s body as a result of his shame and is sucked into Swingly’s body. Golan almost kills the little bastard, but Swingly flies away threatening to tell everyone Golan’s secret.
The Shamunculous leaves Swingly’s body and takes the form of a pigeon where it flies away and inhabits Keith at his party. All day Keith and Alexis are trying to work with Keith’s dad to try and make this party newsworthy and nothing seems to work. Fortunately, Golan shows up with a shark and that seems to liven things up a bit causing news vans to show up just in time for Keith to tell anyone watching that Golan wets the bed.
Our Take
The amount of shame that Golan feels causes the Shamunculous to turn into a giant son of a bitch which reeks all sorts of damage. The trick to killing it is for everyone at the party to admit embarrassing things which then whittles the Shamunculous small enough until it gets eaten by the shark. And unfortunately for Dylan, Swingly’s gay.
I hope the Shamunculous continues to be one of the supernatural things that happen for this series because it’s the really big tool that Golan the Insatiable has in its pocket that makes the show different from the other FOX shows. Fans of sorcery, magic, dragons, and all that shit should take to this show…that and anyone who loves violence.
In terms of plot, this episode could have done more. I thought that the ‘Peeing’ portion of the episode overshadowed Keith and Alexis building up for the party so much that by the time we got to the party I forgot why Keith was even throwing one and had stopped caring about who wet the bed. That said, there were a bunch of gags this time around that I couldn’t help but enjoy. Keith roller skating away into the background after being yelled at, the shark flying over the moon, I love stupid shit like that, but I’m not sure it was enough to take this week’s episode out of mediocrity.
Score
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
