The Muppets are officially coming back!
We don’t have a premier date yet, but that revival for The Muppets we told you about last month has officially been green lit for pickup by ABC and the network has already put out a press release giving us more info about the show:
WRITERS: Bill Prady and Bob Kushell
OTHER EPs: Randall Einhorn, Bill Barretta
The Muppets return to prime time with a series that, for the first time ever, will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires; a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages.
No word yet on a premier date/time, but I am very, very excited about the return of The Muppets and you can bet your ass we’re going to be covering the shit out of it. We’re starting to see an interesting change here in the States. In London, you see puppet shows all the time with most recent being Newzoids. Here in America, The Jack and Triumph Show is your best bet, and I guarantee you that NBC and the producers of Alf are going to be eagerly checking the ratings to see how this one fairs.
This is just the latest in premium franchises for Disney that has seen a prime-time pickup on ABC. In years past, we’ve seen the shitty Agents of Shield series last this long, and Agent Carter just got a second season pickup, both representing the already profitable Marvel brand. The Muppets could be better than both, and be another winning franchise for the media conglomerate.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
