Review: Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja ”Space Cow-Bros; The Fresh Principal of Norrisville High”

‘Space Cow-Bros;

Randy is trying not to forget Howard’s birthday for the 100th time, so he opts to bring his best pal to space using McFist’s latest invention that will send a robo-raptor to Randy’s whereabouts and destroy him once and for all. Unfortunately, Randy has to hitch a ride in space with Neil the ape because Howard sets off the rocket and gets a head start. Randy shows up, has to fight the raptor, then saves Neil for the return trip home.

Our Take

I actually know the ‘Howard’ type all too well. He’s the type that posts on Facebook four months in advance when his birthday is then gets all excited AND COUNTS all the people that wished him a Happy Birthday. If you forget, he texts you to remind you…

So, even if Howard’s extreme birthday tendencies sound ridiculous, they aren’t the worst. And this week’s episode isn’t either, as we got treated to a space battle that included monkeys, raptors, and a pretty decent battle at the end. I would have liked to have seen more involvement with McFist, but I’m satisfied overall.

The Fresh Principal of Norrisville High”

The Principal gets fired, but when he comes in the next day to get his things he finds that everyone in the building is hypnotized by this new ‘Skynet’-like system that has everyone follow an extreme set of rules. As a result, Irving has to hack into the system to try and battle the digital Principal in a knowledge battle while Howard and the Ninja battle the students whom are encapsulated by robots. Howard takes off and gets in the game with Irving and is able to trick the new Principal and kill the system while the Ninja destroys its machinery. Everyone is back to normal, and Irving gets his job back.

Our Take

I really enjoy the episodes that aren’t all about McFist or the Sorceror being the main villains, and this one’s included. A very Terminator story line works really well, and the fact that the heroism wasn’t all on Randy was also quite different leaving Howard and Irving to take the reigns on this one. I would have liked to have seen a bunch more fighting, and I don’t quite understand how Randy and Howard were able to not be placed under the spell that had the rest of the student body, but the episode remained mostly fresh and extra points should be rewarded.
