New Virtual Reality Lets You Watch TV with Homer Simpson

Simpsons VR 2

Ever since the virtual reality craze began back in the 1990s, I, like many others, shrugged our collective shoulders and asked, “Yeah, but what’s the point?” Interactive video games were still just a fantasy world, the military and medical implications were useless to me (what am I, a doctor?), and the purchase of Oculus VR by Google for $2 billion last year provided me with nothing more than fodder for a future South Park episode. But tell me I can watch TV on The Simpsons couch with Homer? Brother, you’ve got yourself an interested dude.

Designed by Myles Johnston, “Homer Theater” is an uber-meta Oculus Rift proof-of-concept that will entirely change the way you watch television. If all you ever wanted was to tune in next to Homer Simpson, that is.

Sure, the technology may allow us to view sporting events from ringside/courtside/sideline/baseline seats, or sit in on our favorite shows as they happen, but I say call off the development, because this is the only invention we’ll ever need. Give this man the Nobel Prize for Technology.

Wait, that’s not a thing yet? Okay, maybe one more invention.
