Season Review: Stone Quackers Season One
Spoilers Below
Boy, was this a tough show to track down. Last year, FOX and Animation Domination HD were teasing the fuck out of Stone Quackers, but it wasn’t until Halloween that we got to see any results…but it was worth the wait.
I remember wondering if this series was going to be Regular Show-esque, but really Stone Quackers doesn’t quite know what it wants to be yet. We’ve seen episodes that split up like a shorts series, we’ve seen the more traditional A-B plot episodes, and we’ve seen plots that have spanned entire run-times. And maybe that’s ok for a freshman series, and yes it is kind of interesting to see this type of variety, but like a good chocolate pudding pie you need to put this one in the fridge and let it cool. The episode count was all over the place, and that didn’t help anyone, but when you watch all of the episodes of Stone Quackers in numerical order, you can certainly see the growth over time.
And just like every chocolate pudding pie, the ingredients are here. Entire the Power Violence comedy troupe, Whit, Clay, and Bug are maybe my favorite new characters of the year and all provide a spider-monkey sense of attack where you can get hit from all different angles on the funny. Barf and Barry are this show’s Bart and Homer. In the episode that saw Barf put snake eggs in the house that led to an infestation, we finally got why Bart is in this show. Barry just comes across as this ticking time bomb. There is something going on with him and I don’t think we quite know what it is yet, but I just think this guy is going to split in half and go crazy, and John C. Reilly is absolutely the perfect cast member to play that role. The wild card role if you will.
Stone Quackers can also be described as a wild card and has the potential to help progress an animated cartoon genre dominated by South Park all these years…the dark comedy.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
