Review: The Rolling Girls “NO NO NO”
“NO NO NO” is an episode that started out as filling in the gaps with Chiyaya, and giving us a brief glimpse into how she came to Earth. The catch, though, is that we get an M Night Shamalyan type of plot twist. As the story of Chiyaya unfolded, it turns out that her mother is the president, and she’s an alien too. Part of me was screaming “no!” But after the initial shock, it makes a lot more sense.
The first part of “NO NO NO” easily could have been two episodes, expanding greatly on both how Chiyaya got onto the doomed spacecraft, and why the spacecraft was there. Oh, and before I forget, what the hell is up with the stones? It’s been 10 episodes now, and not one mention of an origin, or why the president and Chiyaya are gathering them. This would be a nice thing to know, considering it powers the Bests to ungodly powers, and is THE major plot point in the series so far. Before I go onto something else, it was great to see Masami and Kuniko on the road again.
The second half was highlighted with the trouble between two sets of two groups, with Nozomi caught in the middle of a turf war between Noyotake Moonlight and the people who stole all of the stones from the President, Shima. Ai, on the other hand, was stuck between the Okayama Demons and the peach growers that took her in after she tried to steal a peach. The fight with Kaguya and Shima and her thugs looked phenomenal. It was about time that The Rolling Girls got back to the flash and the cutesy crap that caught everyone’s attention during episode one and two. All of the flash was gone, and you didn’t really see it when the other bests were fighting.
“NO NO NO” kept the story going along rather well. Everyone was really busy, yet I never got the feeling that there was too much going on. Yeah, the events in “NO NO NO” could have been broken up into three episodes, but that’s just me wanting more of the loose plot threads tied up. Beggars can’t really be choosers, and there was more than enough to keep my interested.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
