Review: Kirby Buckets “Day of the Cat”
Spoilers Below
Kirby skates into the Principal whom forces Kirby to draw a portrait of his cat all the while missing class. Kirby ends up finishing the cat rather early, and convinces Fish and Eli to take some hall passes and have some fun. The guys return and find out that Mitchell’s cat is missing.
The cat ends up turning into an Alien-like creature that threatens to scratch Fish, Eli, and Buckets to no end. It eventually destroys Kirby’s portrait, gets into Eli’s locker, and causes Fish to act like a moron cat. Eventually, the guys corner the cat into the basement and Kirby gets into a fight with the cat which leads to the cat getting caught and brought back to its rightful owner. Mitchell ends up liking the patch-work portrait and relieving him of his punishment.
Meanwhile, Dawn gets flowers in her locker from her mom but she uses it as an opportunity to let people know that she has a stalker. One of those people is Devon, a guy she convinces to keep an eye on her while the ‘stalker’ is out there. Devon eventually upgrades his coverage to round the clock, which includes a movie on Saturday Night with Dawn. Eventually, Devon gets a little overboard on his coverage of Dawn and she starts to get uneasy about the situation. Dawn comes clean and lets Devon know what the deal is. Devon finds a new client, and now Dawn is going to the movies with friends.
Our Take
This week’s episode showed a lot of things that I like about this show, but a lot of things that irk me as well. For starters, I loved the FPS scenes with the cat, and the fight at the end was awesome. Kirby was actually pretty funny throughout, from pretending to be Mitchell to leading the guys to ditch.
Unfortunately, there was a lot I didn’t like about this episode of Kirby Buckets. All of Dawn’s story is starting to get rather normal, as a matter of fact it seemed rather familiar to the guy she hired to try and get at her brother. Fish and Eli were just annoying, with Mekai Curtis (Fish) just making want to take a power drill to my temple with his cat act. We’ve seen Eli’s obsessions manifest into something else each and every week, but Mekai just really stunk it up this episode. We’ll go into more detail in the upcoming season review…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
