English Dub Review: Assassination Classroom “School Trip Time / 2nd Period”
This week, Assassination Classroom finishes it’s school trip, and half of “School Trip Time / 2nd Period” takes place during Nagisa’s kidnapping adventure from last week. More specifically, it answers what Koro-Sensei was doing while Nagisa and his group were busy getting their collective asses kicked. This was very Game of Thrones-esque, because if you’ve ever read the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, most of books three and four happen concurrently to each other. That being said, this is nowhere near as complicated, nor do you need to keep a notebook handy to keep notes.
The first half of “School Trip Time / 2nd Period” follows a sniper named, Red-Eye, who was contracted by Karasuma to take down Koro-Sensei while the class is in the city. Red-Eye keeps getting his shot, but something always gets in the way. For instance, Koro-Sensei blocks a bullet with what looks like a napkin, foils Red-Eye by disguising himself in a samurai reenactment, and getting the bullet blocked by a sticker. “School Trip Time / 2nd Period” did a wonderful job of making Koro-Sensei even more impossible to kill.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t come without it’s complications. Koro-Sensei seems to be mastering his “talk-no-jutsu,” because he won over Red-Eye with a simple satchel of herbs and a desert at Koro-Sensei’s room. I’m sorry, but I have to call bullshit here. Red-Eye must not have been as good as he said he is, because he gave up after three shots. No, that isn’t a typo, he fucking gave up after three shots. Do the writers mean to tell me that a sniper who is supposed to be the best at what he does gave up after three shots and a dessert with his mark? In the words of NFL Hall of Famer Chris Carter, “C’Mon man!”
The rest of “School Trip Time / 2nd Period” is rather forgettable. It’s just the kids with downtime on the last night of the trip, and it ends with the guys talking about the girls, and vice versa. This wasn’t bad, it’s just that South Park did it better. If you want to watch a show do this right, watch South Park‘s season 11 finale, “The List.” The girls make a list, and it ends in a huge conspiracy. The story of “School Trip Time / 2nd Period” isn’t bad at all. But the writers rely on Koro-Sensei being able to talk any person to stop doing evil shit, and come to his side. Other than that, “School Trip Time / 2nd Period” was a fun episode. Just don’t go in thinking with was absolutely flawless.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
