English Dub Review: Absolute Duo “Survive”

I guess the writers went, “fuck a set up, let’s just start ‘Survive’ in the midst of Lilith’s insane attack on the entire first year class.” All of the silly exposition that could have happened in the episode was explained in the first seven minutes. This means we’re going to get another episode of almost all action. I can’t lie here, I am very excited. Well, there are moments of story, but they don’t take away from what was the real meat and potatoes of “Survive.”

Shit got real serious when the end of the battle occured, and Tor,  Julie, and company almost outsmarted Lilith. When Tor started his final duel, three soldiers working for Equipment Smith, a scientist who has developed the X-Suits the soldiers were wearing. Things seemed to be getting a bit more interesting, since there’s another presence from the students and teachers. Also, the principal witch, Blaze Diabolica, seems to be even more involved in the goings on outside of the school, seeing as though armored soldiers are not trying to take her students.

“Survive” was a great episode, because it gives us what we want: lots of fighting. Unfortunately, it unfolds a lot like the New Blade Battle. Lilith went through all of the students with relative ease, until Tor, Julie, Tora, Tatu, Tomoe, and Miyabi are the only ones left. I was hoping that something would be different with how the battles unfolded, but it’s not the worst thing ever. “Survive” is an episode that doesn’t let go once it gets a hold of you. You get on once “Survive” starts, and doesn’t end until the final scene.
