This sounds like a cool change of pace…enter Hard Apple. A new joint-venture animated series with James Gray as your writer and EP on all creative aspects and French streaming services Canal Plus. Despite the fact that the series will be French-produced, everything else will be all American.

Hard Apple is an upcoming series inspired by New York author Jerome Charyn and takes place in 1970s New York City. The series charts the up and coming law enforcement career of Isaac Sidel as he takes on crime and political corruption. Israeli illustrators Tomer and Asaf Hanuka will handle character designs and backgrounds.

The people behind it sound hell-bent on bringing on a concept that is really unique and rare. Adult animation dramas are almost non-existent here save for DC Animated movies and anime, so Hard Apple sounds like a fantastic idea. Check out Variety to get even more scoop on the story.
