Funimation Came to Beantown with Dub Premieres
Funimation invaded Boston this past weekend, and they didn’t come unprepared. Two new dubbed series premiered this weekend, and we take a closer look at both.
Wanna Be the Strongest in the World
So, I’ve been a life-long fan of pro wrestling. Yeah, there were times where I kind of fell off, but I always came back. Wrestlemania was last weekend (if you have the WWE Network, watch Wrestlemania. It was the best in years), and it felt almost too convenient that Funimation brought out the woman’s wrestling anime, Wanna Be the Strongest in the World. I’ve seen a couple episodes of other wrestling anime, like Kinnikuman (us lowly got the even more inferior Ultimate Muscle, the 4Kids dubbed butchery). The only thing we have to go on is the trailer that was released last week. Unfortunately, the trailer does absolutely nothing to tell you about the plot or characters, so it’s no more than a teaser, at best. I did some poking around, and some scenes seem like borderline porn. Oh, goodie.
PING PONG: THE ANIMATION
PING PONG: THE ANIMATION is a uniquely animated show based on the trials and tribulations of two ping pong players: Smile and Peco. One is a loud mouth known for his arrogance, and the other is known for silence. As you can probably guess. Peco gets lazy, and Smile starts to really turn it up. Coming from Masaaki Yuasa, the director of the Adventure Time episode “Food Chain,” it’s no wonder why Ping Pong looks so good. Do yourself two things: peep the trailer below, because the animation looks out of this world. Then go check out “Food Chain.” It may have nothing to do with the overall story of Adventure Time, but it is one of the most acid trip inducing episodes yet.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
