Comics Review: Adventure Time #39
Adventure Time #39 gives us the conclusion to the multi-issue story of why the residents of Ooo forgot how to cook food. Finn and Jake caught an old hag who has summoned Arklothac, the Great Chef from Beyond Comprehension so he can cook the citizens of Ooo a huge feast. Of course, things don’t go well, because he prepares Ooo to be his next meal. The riff got bigger between Finn and Jake because of Finn’s new sword, which was an underlying theme from the last couple of issues. The added story, “Grocery Kingdom,” was alright, but not anything to call home about. Finn and Jake need to go to the Grocery Kingdom so Jake can get a secret ingredient for dinner.
I was not very happy with how the story just came to an end with such an ending. I figured there would be something that would lead into Arklothac’s arrival instead of just dropping him in right away. I can’t help but to think that this was the disappointing payoff I have come to expect from Kaboom!, especially coming from the bad stories we had from Regular Show last year. Unfortunately, Adventure Time isn’t immune to the problem.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
