Review: Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja “Randy Cunningham’s Day Off / Bro-ing Down the House”
Spoilers Below
Randy Cunningham’s Day Off
Randy takes off the day from school while Howard has to go to school. Not only does Randy take off from school, but he takes off from being a ninja. He might’ve picked a good day, too because neither McFist nor Willem can think of any good plans. Dr. Sam comes over to try and see what’s going on with Randy and yea, it might be something serious. Howard, bored at school and not wanting to eat lunch by himself, decides to call-in an evil strike to McFist so that the ninja has to show up and save the day. Problem is, Dr. Sam has Randy quarantined due to his ”illness”, and he can’t get out. As a result, Randy decides to come clean to Sam and heads to save the school from the robot, but he gets eaten and a missile is on the way getting ready to destroy his house. Expectedly, Randy saves the day, but still gets grounded for skipping school.
Our Take
Who can blame a guy for wanting to take a day off? Fortunately, the director of Randy Cunningham does a great job at putting together action sequences because they were a lot of fun to watch. I loved the dichotomy of the different possibilities of danger that presented itself to Randy like the missile, McFist, and the nice-looking robot that lead to a fun battle. I really enjoyed the Dr. Sam character as well because his dialogue is just so funny. Not a ton of laughable lines elsewhere, but a rather solid episode.

Bro-ing Down the House
Randy and Howard decide to break into McFist’s house and they have a TIME. Viceroy shows up and orders an intruder detection system to chase down the duo. He then heads to the panic room while he sends a bunch of minions after Randy in an Old West back drop. The guys escape and are almost out the door when Randy decides to delete any security footage that can be used against him. The ninja gets caught, but Howard hurls a boomerang that kills all of the robots and saves the day. The guys end up making a deal with Viceroy to get rid of the footage, and they clean up McFist’s house leaving no one the wiser.
Our Take
The best part of the episode was the Old West scene, because I loved the robot wars against Randy as I thought they were really well done. The episode was a bit funnier, too as Randy’s wise cracks were laden through out, almost enough to bring down the house.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
