Review: Kirby Buckets “Gimme Some Room”

Spoilers Below

Dawn and Kirby go to war as to what to do with the new spare room at home. After a thorough presentation, Kirby’s idea is chosen and now becomes known as a ‘Break Room’, where people can bring stuff and smash it. Dawn’s pissed, but soon Kirby’s gotta get her on his good side so as to get Todd off of his back.

Kirby gets tickets to go to the planetarium by way of Todd, and he’s able to get Dawn to go. Dawn returns from her date with Todd and forces Kirby to turn the Break Room into a ‘Bronze Room.’ Dawn gets her room, but she’s not done having Todd push around Kirby whenever she asks. Eventually, Kirby and Todd throw Dawn a 1-Day Anniversary party of which Dawn isn’t thrilled because she’s been trying to get a lid on things from the viewing public. Eventually, Dawn snaps when Todd tries to kiss her and they break up which leads Kirby in getting his coat back.

Meanwhile, Eli and Fish go dumpster diving and fine a fur coat which helps Fish see Eli in a whole new light. Eli is now ‘Mad Dog’ and he doesn’t take shit from anybody.  At first it’s kinda cute, but eventually Fish wants to undo his mess and get rid of Mad Dog. At Kirby’s party for dawn, Todd takes Eli’s coat on his way into the new Break Room and keeps it.

Our Take

Out of all of the Kirby Buckets episodes that have aired so far, this one seemed to be the most normal and that’s not a good thing. This show thrives on doing a lot of crazy shit, but this week we really didn’t get a whole lot of that. None of the jokes were really hitting home with me, and the Eli/Fish story was so bad it made my head hurt. Seriously, they took a jacket out of the garbage and started wearing it around town…are you friggin’ kidding me? How was no one talking about the probably smell coming from the fur? I also don’t like extended scenes with Mekai Curtis because his acting is pretty bad, and this week was no exception. This show has the tools to make better episodes, and this one didn’t show any of them.
