Conan talks working on ‘The Simpsons’

On Wednesday, the brilliant Conan O’ Brien was in town on the Howard Stern Show, and during the interview he was very open about his time as a writer on The Simpsons.

Conan told a lot of great stories, my favorite was when he told of the time he went into a hotel with Jim Brooks and pitched only three ideas for Simpsons stories and that Mr. Brooks laughed at all three which evidently is a rather rare occurrence. The other story he told was that when he wrote ‘The Monorail’ episode, he originally intended to have George Takei as a character, but due to political differences, George declined and instead Leonard Nimoy shows up.

Overall, Conan had said that working on The Simpsons was amazing and was scared rather shitless in being in that original writers room. 30 years later, both Conan and The Simpsons survived so I think they made it out OK.

I’m sure the interview will air several times this weekend on Sirius, so tune in and hear a fantastic interview.
