Seth equates ‘Ted’ to ‘Stewie’…but did that backfire?

Recently, Entertainment Weekly had a chance to talk with Seth MacFarlane about the sequel to the blockbuster smash hit comedy Ted set to release June 26th, 2015 in theaters everywhere. Here’s what the director/co-writer had to say:

”It’s basically the way we treated Stewie in Family Guy,” the co-writer/director says. ”He’s the only one of his kind who can talk.”

My take on this tidbit of information is that anyone who has watched Family Guy over the last million years knows that Stewie was certainly not the only one of his kind that can talk. Ancillary characters such as Evil Stewie, Bertram and others more than served as capable antagonists opposite Stewie and I have to imagine if Seth is really equating him to that of Ted, that there are indeed others similar to the teddy bear that can provide good fodder for a film.

Get a first-look at Ted 2 here. In the meantime, you’ll certainly see Stewie sooner as Family Guy returns with new episodes in January only on FOX.
