Shorts Review: Munch by ZoomToons

I honestly thought I was going to hate these but.. well..check out the review after the cut.

I clicked on this out of boredom, I was completely apprehensive. The lead character Munch is very cute and a simple rig that most likely didn’t take too long to design, but hey, “less is more” they say ( who they are eludes me but they still say it).

Munch is made by ZoomToons who are Cam Ralph and  Zoe Harrington. If you think their character Munch is twee get a load of their twitter and tumblr avatar. It screams twee. I thought I may be entering into some religious viewfest of cutesy. But that’s me being judgemental, hey, if that’s who Cam and Zoe are then sure, you go with the twee, it’s fine. What happened next, when I actually clicked play, was not twee and completely unexpected.

Bright, bold, and completely kooky, my only complaint with some of the Munch shorts are that they are too short, so I’ve given you the full playlist here. I’m going to admit I don’t know what the hell is going on but I like it, it’s funny. It’s clever and funny and totally off the wall. I get the feeling that this is just the start for Cam and Zoe animation wise and I’m expecting quite a bit more, if this is their first foray into the world of animation then things can only get more random and maybe better from here.
