Review: Wander Over Yonder “The Liar / The Stray”

The Liar
It’s amazing to see just how MUCH Wander Over Yonder is able to squeeze into 12 minutes. Case in point, on this week’s episode, Wander and Sylvia do their best to save the inhabitants of an island from certain destruction right before a volcano explodes and RIGHT before the heroes are about to finish, Wander notices a family of alien birds trapped in a tree. Much to Sylvia’s dismay, Wander and her scale up the side of the volcano, grab the birds, and traverse down the mountainside. Before they can make it halfway down , however, the volcano collapses and now everyone’s trapped. After saving some of the mama bird’s kids, Sylvia takes charge and surfs everyone out of the volcano, but just before she’s able to do the perfect landing, the volcano is on the verge of exploding. Just as things seem to be hopeless, Sylvia takes a chance and is able to save everyone from harm.
By far we get the most action-packed episode of Wander in probably ever. All of the in-cave action would certainly put Indian Jones and the Crystal Skull to shame. Did we get a really funny episode? No…but it didn’t matter. I was so on the edge of my seat that I didn’t concern myself with laughing, and actually, a joke would’ve ruined some of the more important action scenes, especially whenever the baby birds were in trouble. How this show manages to get better with time is beyond me, but it’s doing just that. Disney XD/Disney just has to stop fucking around with the schedules, and this show could be certifiable.

The Stray
Wander and Sylvia are downtown when they come across a kitty named ‘Little Bits’ that appears to be alone and afraid. After feeding the kitty, Wander and Sylvia decide to help it find a distant relative for safe haven. Unfortunately, we find out that Little Bits is a bounty hunter hired by Hater to destroy Wander, and Sylvia knows allllll about it. A hypnotized Wander nearly comes to grips with his own destruction, but Sylvia is able to out-cute Bits and send the kitty back to Hater.
Again, the producers of Wander are really doing their best to diversify their writing portfolio. This time around we are lulled into a sense of cuteness and adorableness with Little Bits, only to have the plot twist near the end showing the kitty’s TRUE intentions. I would’ve like to have seen a bigger and more impressive fight between Sylvia and Bits, but I’m happy with what I got.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
