Monty Python alum Terry Jones has finished work on Boom Bust Boom, a documentary he also co-wrote, which will attempt to explain the concept of financial crashes with live-action content, animation, puppetry, and song.

Jones’ son Bill and Ben Timlett co-directed the film alongside him. Economics professor and entrepreneur Theo Kocken co-wrote the script.

The film will feature contributions from actor John Cusack, journalists Paul Mason and John Cassidy, the Bank of England’s Andy Haldane and Nobel Prize winners Daniel Kahneman, Robert J. Shiller, and Paul Krugman.

“I wanted to be a part of this project as soon as I discovered economics students are taught crashes just don’t happen,” the elder Jones said.

“The people in the street are the ones who directly or indirectly pay for and suffer from financial follies,” Kocken added in a statement. “It is crucial the public as a whole understands what went wrong and what they can do to try and stop it from happening again. Boom Bust Boom is a film about our inherently unstable economic system and proposes a simple idea – let’s adapt economics to human nature.”

Boom Bust Boom will debut at film festivals next year.

Credits of Bill and Ben Productions, the company founded by Jones and Timlett, include the 2012 animated comedy A Liar’s Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python’s Graham Chapman (which was based on a memoir by the late Monty Python member) and the upcoming film Absolutely Anything, which stars Simon Pegg, the five remaining Pythons, and Robin Williams in one of his final roles.
