Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles “A Foot Too Big”

So, I wonder how long the woods will still be a thing.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has a robust line up of guest voices to go with their robust roster of characters. This week, The Finger is trying to find what turns out to be Bigfoot. Now, who plays The Finger? Well, ever see Predator? How about pro wrestling? Maybe you lived in Minnesota? How about a fan of conspiracies? That’s right, kids! Jesse “The Body” Ventura makes a guest appearance, and it’s freaking funny as shit! The Finger plays to everything Jesse Ventura ever did. He has fighting moves like “The Body,” is a hunter from Predator, and is trying to catch Bigfoot, which is a conspiracy that could make its way onto Conspiracy Theory.  This was overly funny.

As for the story itself, I think it was great to give Donnie a taste of his own shit when he had Bigfoot following him around like Donnie was to April. I found that, surprisingly, more interesting than anything with The Finger hunting Bigfoot. That road has been traveled so many times, I’m surprised that it isn’t paved with the bones of Sasquatch. However, The Finger by himself is genius. Ventura plays the psychotic hunter very well. It’s almost like he played a nutcase in a movie where they were trying to find a big game. It’s almost like they were being predators (hint hint wink wink).

Again one thing that doesn’t go away is the time at the forest. Granted, we got a lot of insight at the panel yesterday as to what happens on the farm, but why has there been no scenes to show what happens back in the city?  I thought that New York was important to the story, since almost everything that took place in TMNT was in the city. Also, what plans have Kurai and Splinter hatched? You know that something is going to happen, because of the end of season two. I was a little disheartening to see that the Turtles are going to be at the farm for the foreseeable future, but the future does look promising. I guess I am just worried that the series may be jumping the shark a bit.

In the end, “A Foot Too Big” was a somewhat endearing take on the Bigfoot trope. I am glad that it focused more on Bigfoot and Donnie than the hunt of Bigfoot, but when you put Donnie, Bigfoot, and The Finger together, the story fizzled out a bit.  By the way, forest stealth? How is that a thing.
