Is Floyd County Prods’ idea to drop ‘ISIS’ from ‘Archer’ the right move?
You may have heard by now that the producers of FX’s hit animated series Archer have decided to remove the ‘ISIS’ name starting with season six of the series in light of the terrorist group of the same name.
But is this the right move for Floyd County? A quick perusal on a few websites and message boards think that the removal of ISIS is more or less a cop-out by the producers, and are in fact bending over in fear from an act that is outside of their control. Personally, I am siding with the producers of Archer, and I really do think it was their call, and not the network’s.
Look, at the end of the day, Archer is NOT South Park. The series has balls, but when America wants to fight the silliness that is America’s handling of a tragic event, we turns to South Park for answers. Archer is the series we turn to when we need witty one-liners to expel at hopeless women only to get weird looks in return. What we don’t need is a series that reminds us of the atrocities that are taking place overseas. Political affiliations aside, I think we can all agree that the Middle East looks like it’s going to be a battleground for the next 50 years and there’s nothing that you, I, or anyone else is really going to do about it because let’s face it, none of us are automated drones that can fly into bunches of people.
Cartoons are here for our enjoyment, our empowerment, and lately to make a statement against ISIS. For Floyd County to make the move to remove the ISIS name from Archer episodes, I really do commend them…Matt Goldberg, Adam Reed, and the rest of Floyd are doing the right things here. And yea, Season Six of Archer already looks awesome.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
