Gymnasium Floors Got Crazily Warped, Just Like on ‘The Simpsons’

Remember that Simpsons episode where Bart flooded the floor of Springfield Elementary’s gymnasium and it became hopelessly and ridiculously warped? Sure, you do. It was Season 11’s “Brothers Little Helper” and we later saw Groundkeeper Willie unsuccessfully trying to dry the gym with a hairdryer as Milhouse, Nelson, and other students attempted to navigate the giant bumps during a basketball game. Ring any bells?

Well, it turns out this situation could actually happen.

According to a post on Reddit, an incident occurred in a school gym where water pipes below the flooring burst and, as a plumber and “floor guy” explained (also on Reddit), the pressure was released from below, the water was soaked up into the boards, and they warped in an incredible – almost unbelievable – way.

Not such a joke now, is it? (Editor’s Note: It still is.)
