Black Dynamite Season Two gets start date and time…but it’s a weird start date.
We told you guys when Black Dynamite season two was kicking off back during the Comic Con announcement, but now we have a time! Adult Swim JUST put out a press release confirming the October 18th start date, but now we know that 10:30 pm ET/PT will be the new start time.
According to the release:
Based on 2009’s critically-acclaimed feature film, the Black Dynamite animated series further chronicles the exploits of the central character, Black Dynamite, and his crew. Under the direction of executive producer Carl Jones (The Boondocks), the series features the voice talent of Michael Jai White (For Better or Worse, The Dark Knight, Why Did I Get Married?), Tommy Davidson (In Living Color, Bamboozled), Kym Whitley (The Cleveland Show, Brian McKnight Show), and Byron Minns (Mongo Wrestling Alliance), all of whom starred in the feature film.
Black Dynamite is a 1970s renaissance man with a kung-fu grip. A lover and a fighter who is not afraid to leap before he looks. His sidekick extraordinaire is Bullhorn, the brains and cunning that complements Black Dynamite’s hard-hittin’, bone-crushin’ style. Providing comic relief on the mean streets is Cream Corn and classing up the place is the gorgeous Honey Bee.
As awesome as this sounds, the Saturday time slot is fucking weird. I guess there are good reasons to put the series on a Saturday 1) You get original run television after Space Dandy finishes up (and no, for the most part, Toonami isn’t first-run) 2) You put the series on a spot where reruns have aired in the past and 3) This now gives Adult Swim brand-new programming for Saturday, Sunday, AND Monday Nights. On the other hand, Saturday Night? That’s usually where animated TV goes to die. It hasn’t worked out for FOX’s ADHD block, CMT’s Bounty Hunters, or anything else. As a matter of fact, if FOX wants to get rid of a TV show they usually air whatever they have left of that show on Saturday Nights.
In any case, new Black Dynamite is new Black Dynamite, and I’ll get it anyway I can.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
